Standing seam and metal panel
Standing seam hides the fasteners under the seam, so there are no exposed screws or rubber washers to fail. It is the premium option and the one we recommend for homes.
Exposed-fastener panel costs less and suits outbuildings, garages and agricultural structures.
Why metal suits this climate
Freeze and thaw is what destroys roofs here. Metal does not absorb water, so there is nothing to expand and crack when the temperature swings.
Snow slides rather than sitting and forming ice dams along the eaves. On the right pitch that alone solves a recurring winter problem.
What it costs
Expect to pay more than asphalt up front. The math works when you plan to stay put. One metal roof against two or three asphalt roofs over the same period usually comes out ahead.
We install both, so we will price both and let you decide with real numbers rather than a pitch.
